Gracchus & Associates, founded by Hajime Nakazato, started its operation in the year-end of 1999 as a purely domestic financial consulting firm, just with a handful of part-time staffs including college students.
With a strong desire to subdue the financial turmoil and initiate a true financial reform, Gracchus & Associates was named after Gracchus brothers who accomplished courageous reforms in chaotic Ancient Rome.

When Gracchus was set up, hardly anybody took the issue of non-performing loans of the Japanese financial institutions seriously as a national problem, as in nowadays, and market participants were very few. Thus, the nature and the future of the business were really uncertain, and the majority had a pessimistic view on establishing a company like Gracchus. Looking back on the five and a half years of operation, though it was a long and tough time, Gracchus has managed to increase the staff members and corporate accounts, with the support from our clients.
Gracchus has been profitable since the year of establishment. With the joining of more experts with hands-on experience in finance and other business domains, Gracchus is now becoming a group of true professionals to provide various financial services according to clients’ needs.
As of now, no firm with the expertise and size comparable to Gracchus has yet been established in Japan, claiming ”pure domestic consulting firm specializing in finance”.
This is simply the result of substantial commitment of each one of us working towards the same goal. Furthermore, we truthfully appreciate the continued support and encouragement from each and every one of our clients and the people surrounding Gracchus.
As a result of our relentless effort to tackle various financial problems over the five years, Gracchus now holds an excellent track record that no existing consulting firm can ever achieved of.
